Demystifying Pie Crust

by Hank Donat on 10/13/2011

You don’t have to be a northeast native to understand the importance of a good pie crust. It’s not only important, it’s necessary. Pie is among the most comforting of all comfort foods. It depends on a crispy, flaky crust to blanket and serve all manner of nourishing goods that soothe the spirit. Of course, the Gay Housewife® method always includes leaving plenty of love waiting inside.

We’ve seen so many complicated pie crust recipes we understand why many homemakers prefer prepared or frozen pies. However, the truth is our own sought-after recipe has only three ingredients and takes about a minute and half to prepare.

2 Cups All Purpose Flour
1/2 Cup Canola Oil
1/4 Cup Whole Milk

That’s it.

Most fruit pies and meat pies bake at 375-degrees for 37 minutes.

We chose blueberries this time.

Pie making means pie sharing!

Enjoy!
